Doping at the Olympic Games

Many illustrious athletes have come under the doping scanner in the Olympic games. Some have had their medals taken away while some have had their reputations tarnished forever. An estimated 75+ athletes were banned from the 2008 Beijing Games due to doping. This leads us to ask a simple question – Why do top athletes feel the need to take performance enhancing drugs? Which are the famous ones? What are the best steroids?
Among the general public stanozolol (winstrol) is probably the most famous steroid in the world. The drug gained prominence after Ben Johnson tested positive for it in the 1988 Seoul Games. In recent times, a number of prominent baseball players, including Barry Bonds, have been accused of taking stanozolol.
Another drug which is talked about in the sporting circles is clenbuterol. In April 2009, The Chinese National Swimming Team suffered a big blow when 7 of its swimmers were tested positive for clenbuterol, a substance banned by both the WADA and FINA. These swimmers will face a lifetime ban based on the anti-doping rules of the Chinese Swimming Association. In the 2008 Beijing games, Adam Dariusz Seroczy?ski was caught for clenbuterol consumption. The 2000 Sydney bronze medallist failed to win any medal at the Beijing games.
