Janssen: Ajax midfielder hopeful that he will be included in final Dutch squad

Holland coach Bert van Marwijk has named a preliminary squad of 27 players for next month’s Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Ajax midfielder Theo Janssen is included having missed the final cut for the cancelled friendly against England.

Ibrahim Afellay has also been included by Van Marwijk despite concerns over a hamstring injury.

Oranje, who lead qualifying Group E, will take on San Marino on September 2 before travelling to Finland four days later.

Farfan: The forward has been linked with a move to Juventus

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt insists Peru international Jefferson Farfan is not for sale.

The former PSV Eindhoven forward is reportedly a target of Juventus, who are continuing to remodel their squad.

Speculation has increased given that the 26-year-old has less than 12 months remaining on his contract, but Heldt is eager to agree a new deal.

He told Reviersport newspaper: “Jefferson Farfan will definitely not be leaving us within this current transfer window. That is for sure.

“In contrast, we are still working very hard to ensure we are able to sign new terms with Jefferson to keep him at our club for much longer.”

Farfan joined Schalke in the summer of 2008 for approximately £8million from PSV.

Stekelenburg: Will be back in goal when Holland come to Wembley

Holland coach Bert van Marwijk has recalled goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg to the squad for the friendly against England at Wembley next month.

The Ajax stopper was forced to miss the double-header against Brazil and Uruguay in June with a thumb injury.

Stekelenburg has now recovered and will regain his spot as the first choice ‘keeper, while Tim Krul and Michel Vorm will provide the back up.

Impressive

Newcastle’s Krul retains his place in the squad after his impressive debut against Brazil last month at the expense of NEC Nijmegen’s Jasper Cillessen.

Marwijk has also recalled AC Milan’s Mark van Bommel and Tottenham’s Rafael van der Vaart following their recoveries from injury.

However, Spartak Moscow midfielder Demy de Zeeuw, was left out of the 26-man squad who after he pulled out of the South American tour at the last minute citing fatigue.
