Rovers youngster reveals international ambitions
Blackburn youngster Jason Lowe admits he would love to represent Great Britain at next year’s Olympics but insists he is focusing on helping lift Rovers up the table for now.
The 20-year-old has begun to establish himself in the Blackburn first-team squad this season after a successful loan spell at Oldham at the end of the last campaign.
The midfielder is following in the footsteps of close friend Phil Jones, who has earned a move to Manchester United and represented England since breaking into the Rovers team two years ago.
Lowe admits he would relish the chance to emulate Jones at international level, especially with next summer’s Olympics looming.
However, he is keen to put that to one side and concentrate on earning regular first-team football at Ewood Park and help lift the Premier League’s bottom side up the table.

Viliame Iongi: relishing chance in RaboDirect Pro12 with the Scarlets
The Scarlets have boosted their back division with the signing of Tongan wing Viliame Iongi.
Iongi, 22, has signed a long-term contract at Parc y Scarlets after impressing at the recent World Cup.
He is expected to join up with the RaboDirect Pro12 club in early November.
Iongi can play anywhere across the back three and has won nine caps for Tonga.
“It’s is a great opportunity for me and as my first professional rugby contract, I’m now going to get the chance to play in Europe and hope the way I play will fit in well with their style,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to being part of such a professional set-up and will give it everything I can. The Scarlets play great rugby and I’m looking forward to being part of the team.”

O’Connor: Wants to play inside centre
Australia youngster James O’Connor is eyeing a switch towards midfield in the absence of injured playmaker Quade Cooper.
Cooper will be out for at least six months after it was confirmed he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the World Cup bronze final win over Wales on Friday.
His absence will force Robbie Deans to reshuffle his midfield for the Wallabies’ upcoming fixtures against the Barbarians at Twickenham on November 26 and Wales at Millennium Stadium on December 3.
Berrick Barnes is the frontrunner to step in at fly-half, leaving a vacancy at inside centre.
And O’Connor, who has been used primarily on the right wing at Test level this season, is keen to take the number 12 jersey.
“It’s no secret I want to play 12. I want to get closer to the action and get my hands on the ball,” said O’Connor, Australia’s form back throughout the World Cup.
With Pat McCabe a major doubt due to <a

But when New Zealand’s catalogue of injuries to their World Cup fly-halves continued, he found himself summoned by coach Graham Henry.
Dan Carter had already been ruled out of the World Cup, then Donald replaced Colin Slade before appearing off the bench at Eden Park as substitute for another injured number 10, Aaron Cruden.
And it was 27-year-old Donald who came up trumps for the All Blacks when it mattered, kicking a 45th-minute penalty that edged New Zealand home 8-7 against France and secured them a first world title since 1987.
Unreal
“It is an unreal experience to pretty much come from nowhere <a

Richie McCaw: Ready for World Cup final
Skipper Richie McCaw has told his New Zealand team-mates that Sunday’s World Cup final against France is a chance they cannot waste.
Everything is stacked in New Zealand’s favour – home advantage at Eden Park, their status as the tournament’s only remaining unbeaten team and the fact they beat France 37-17 less than a month ago.
“It is an opportunity, but there is absolutely nothing for granted,” said McCaw, whose side have not lifted the World Cup for 24 years.
“We’ve given ourselves a chance. There are two teams on the start line, and it’s making the most of that. It’s about everyone, regardless of what happens, knowing that they couldn’t have done any more.
Motivated
“It is putting everything that you’ve done into action, it’s as simple as that, really. The boys are motivated, they’re excited.
“But we are up against a team that will be exactly the <a

Steve Hansen: Focused on Sunday’s final against France
Steve Hansen has played down speculation that he is the favourite to succeed Graham Henry as New Zealand head coach following Sunday’s World Cup final against France.
Henry is to step down after the World Cup, with his assistant Hansen tipped to step up and lead the All Blacks forward.
However Hansen, who previously succeeded Henry as Wales boss, insists he is focusing solely on helping New Zealand overcome France.
“Four years ago we got knocked out in the quarter-final of a World Cup, and three coaches (Henry, Hansen and Wayne Smith) made a decision to try and re-get the job, and we did that.
“We were lucky enough to get reappointed, and last weekend we earned the right to turn up on Sunday at nine o’clock to try and win the thing.
“That is the only thing I am thinking about. I don’t really care what happens after Sunday. All I am focusing on is trying to get a team ready to turn up to wi <a

Cruden: Preparing for World Cup final against France.
Aaron Cruden says he will “pick the brains” of New Zealand’s absent superstar Dan Carter as the All Blacks prepare to tackle France in Sunday’s World Cup final.
Cruden was called into the All Blacks squad earlier this month after fly-half Carter suffered a tournament-ending groin injury.
And he has impressed, starring in Sunday’s emphatic semi-final triumph against Australia.
“Dan is always floating around the hotel and he has been really positive, always smiling and laughing with the boys,” Cruden said.
“He sent me a text before the semi-final wishing me all the best.
“And I will definitely be going to him and just asking him what he thinks about certain things this week and picking his brains so I can be as well prepared as I can, come kick-off time on Sunday.”
The spotlight will be on Cruden and team-mates like never before, with the All Blacks red-hot favouritesto see <a

Gatland: Said faking injury would have been wrong
Coach Warren Gatland has admitted Wales considered faking an injury during their World Cup semi-final defeat to France.
Gatland revealed on Tuesday that he and his coaching staff considered asking a front-row forward to feign injury and force uncontested scrums after the loss of Adam Jones, due to injury, and Sam Warburton, sent off for a dangerous tackle by Irish referee Alain Rolland.
Despite being reduced to 14 men for more than an hour, Wales scored the game’s only try through scrum-half Mike Phillips and only lost by a point, 9-8.
Gatland said: “I know a lot has been spoken about the red card. In retrospect, I can understand in any game under the letter of the law there are a number of decisions referees can make.
“Morally, I made the decision it wasn’t the right thing to do. We could easily have done that in the first 25-30 minutes, but in the spirit of the game, in the spirit of a World Cup semi-final, I <a
